Creating a Tax Code that is Fair

I’ve spent my career working as a tax attorney at the highest levels of the public and private sector, and have seen first-hand how tax policy impacts business and families.

What we need is a tax code that promotes economic growth and good paying jobs, as well as fairness.  What we received with the hastily thrown together tax bill passed in November is one that blows up the deficit, encourages companies to invest outside of the U.S., and makes wage earners the least-favored class of tax payer for the first time in U.S. history.

I believe that the tax code should be an extension of our moral code. What we now have is a tax bill that promotes wealth, not work, and that only benefits a select few. This is wrong, and in Congress, I will work with my colleagues – on both sides of the aisle - to undo the provisions that help big corporations at the expense of working families.
