Archie Parnell Statement on Last Night's Montana Election

(SUMTER, SC – May 26) Democratic Nominee for South Carolina’s Fifth Congressional District Archie Parnell released the following statement today following Rob Quist’s narrow defeat in the Montana At-Large Congressional Election:

"In 2016, Donald Trump won the state of Montana by 20 points. Last night, only six points separated a Democratic political unknown who criss-crossed the state with a guitar and a well-known Republican who had run for a statewide office just a few months ago.

"What changed? The American people recognize that their healthcare is threatened, their Social Security is at risk, and the democratic institutions that have made this nation the greatest on earth are under attack.

"Two more special elections are scheduled this spring, both to be held on June 20. Voters acknowledge that this nation is heading the wrong direction and are ready to listen to new leadership, a more positive vision, and a commitment to safeguarding all that they hold dear.

"We have the momentum. Rob Quist and the voters of Montana took an important step forward last night and we're going to finish the job in South Carolina's Fifth District on June 20."
